THE WORD IN LAUJE WORDS

Satu Kali, Oletinggi and Dimuondonge recently traveled from the steep mountains where they minister among their fellow Laujes of Indonesia, in order to work with missionary Barrie Williamson.
Together, the men checked 1 Corinthians, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon and three chapters of Romans, which Barrie had translated into Lauje. They took turns reading the Scriptures aloud and suggesting revisions.
"One of the joys a translator experiences is to hear people interacting and responding to the written Word," Barrie wrote. "Comments like, 'Wow, you can feel Paul's heart.' Or 'Yeah, that's just like us,' which tell us we are communicating more than just words."
Translating not just words, but the Word of God, is one of many skills vital to planting churches among unreached people groups. So it's part of the curriculum of New Tribes Mission's training program.
Thank you for taking part in the expansion of that program through the Missionary Training Center, under construction in Missouri. Working together for the glory of God, we're expanding the reach of the Gospel to tribal people around the world. Please pray:
* There's a snag in the sale of NTM's former missions institute in Durant, Mississippi. An environmental study revealed a diesel spill due to Hurricane Katrina that needs to be cleaned up, and NTM has agreed to do so. Pray that the paperwork and arrangements can be finalized soon, and provide much-needed funds for construction at the new training center.
* Thank the Lord with us for the work that is getting done on housing, thanks in great part to a volunteer construction team from Tennessee. A staff duplex and a student four-plex are currently under construction. Two more student four-plexes need to be completed before classes start in August, in order to accommodate the expected 180 students. Pray!
* The curriculum team continues preparing the new courses for August. Everything is being re-examined to ensure that the two-year program that replaces two one-year programs effectively prepares missionaries for expanding the reach of the Gospel among unreached people groups.
