Nelia* saw the problem -- and the solution.
Meeting with the Guahibo tribal Christians, the Colombian missionary realized that the newer women believers were mixing traditional beliefs with their faith. She trusted the Word of God and the mature believers to show them what was wrong with that.
And it worked.
"I am so embarrassed before the Lord, as I am walking two trails," said Isadora*. "Sometimes I trust the Lord, yet other times I go to the witchdoctor. I don't want to continue on like this."
God gave Nelia discernment. And she utilized what she learned at a missionary training center in Colombia to properly address this error, which is common among tribal people. The center where she trained is the fruit of New Tribes Mission's training system, which began in the USA in the 1940s and continues to improve and expand.

* This week the training center staff is taking part in a seminar to better prepare them to advise students who start the course this fall. "This seminar is a tremendous help in preparing us for building relationships with the students and facilitating their ministry," wrote missionary Margaret Birkemo. Pray for productive sessions that will equip the missionaries on staff for equipping students.
* Please pray for the team developing the curriculum for the center. They're currently integrating the latest direction from NTM's Field Ministries Committee. The input from this committee, which oversees NTM's ministries in tribal villages around the world, will help keep the courses relevant, practical and on track with the things missionaries are encountering in their ministries.
