Prai believers in Thailand have not yet established any Christmas traditions.
"While they recognize that it is a special time of celebrating Christ's birth," missionary Dave Jordan wrote, "the Prai are not much for initiating gatherings or planning events, and generally prefer anything low key and informal."
This year, however, they are planning a two-day Christian conference in January as a celebration of Jesus' birth. Prai believers from several villages will gather for a time of teaching and hopefully relaxation and fun.
Dave and his wife, Fran, are busily preparing for their part in the conference. Dave is preparing his yard to hold the 60 or so Prais they expect to come. The believers will house as many guests as possible and the Jordans will house the overflow.
The young people are discussing performing a Christmas play and Nute, a Prai believer who is home from college, has agreed to plan games and lessons for the children. Prai Bible teachers, Dee, Juun and Khaam along with Dave will be teaching sessions from the book of Philippians.
Fran wrote, "Please pray that this will be a time of challenge, refreshment and encouragement for all who come."
